Blessed by the Kiritappu Wetlands,
Hamanaka’s seafood is nurtured in nutrient-rich waters.
Hamanaka is a beautiful town in eastern Hokkaido, embraced by the vast Pacific Ocean.
Tufted puffins nest on the small islands visible from Cape Azechi. Rivers flowing from the Kiritappu Wetlands, a Ramsar-listed wetland, carry mineral-rich water into the sea. These nutrients support the growth of kelp, sea urchin, and other marine life found along the coast of Hamanaka.
Nurtured by the mineral-rich waters flowing from the Kiritappu Wetlands, Hamanaka’s seafood is a true product of its natural environment. Renowned for its exceptional flavor and nutritional value, Hamanaka sea urchin is especially prized for its rich umami and creamy texture. We invite you to experience its distinctive taste.

Collaboration with Local Fishermen
To maintain a reliable supply of sea urchin, we work closely with local fishermen and place great importance on building long-term relationships based on trust. We regularly visit aquaculture sites and sometimes work alongside the fishermen. By sharing information about farming environments, cultivation methods, harvest volumes, and seasonal timing, we support their efforts to produce consistently high-quality sea urchin.

About Our Factory
Our head office factory received HACCP certification for seafood processing facilities in 2018, followed by our Kushiro Factory in 2021. These certifications were granted by the Japan Fisheries Association, now the Japan Food Certification Organization.
Our facilities maintain a clean and hygienic production environment in accordance with HACCP-based sanitation procedures for seafood products exported to the United States. Under strict safety and quality controls, we process fresh, delicious sea urchin and ship it to markets throughout Japan.
